Flood Watch for Mother's Day and Monday. Check out what areas see the heaviest rain.
SE Texas is in for rounds of rain and thunderstorms. Some of the wet weather is kicking off tonight, but the main event arrives on Sunday and Monday.
A Flood Watch will be in effect Sunday morning through Monday morning for Madison, Walker, San Jacinto, Trinity, Polk, and Houston counties. The counties under the flood watch could see localized amounts near 6". Otherwise, most areas will pick up 2" to 4" through Monday, but the coast is the exception. Rainfall totals may struggle to hit an inch in Galveston.
Be prepared for thunderstorms that could bring the threat of hail and damaging wind, particularly on Monday.
As for the timeline, here's what it looks like:
Sunday, 3 AM, a cluster of storms moved through impacted communities north of I-10, like Mongomery, Grimes, San Jacinto, and Liberty counties.
At 7 AM, another wave of showers and storms will impact areas north of I-10 and stay unsettled through the afternoon.
If you are south of I-10 late Sunday morning through Sunday night, showers and storms will move from the coast and lift into Harris County, eventually pivoting east and moving out near midnight.
Monday morning, a brief break before more scattered and widespread showers and storms fire off again, continuing the risk for flooding.
